Minghsin University was originally a five-year college when it was established. It offered Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Industrial Management field of interests.

Minghsin expanded quickly due to high demands of its graduates from Taiwan society at that time. Electrical Engineering department was established in 1966, and Chemical Engineering the following year. It also added two-year professional training programs on Mechanics and Electronics. Expanding beyond mentioned latters of sciences, department of Information Management was established in August, 1982.

In 1983, department of International Business and department of Business Administration were also established. At this stage, Minghsin was known as "Minghsin College of Technology and Commerce". As to Continuing Education sector, Minghsin had a long legacy since 1971. Year by year various departments were being set up one after another, among which were 2-year program Mechanical, Chemical, Electronic, Electrical, Civil, Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Management, International Business and Business Administration. Both High school graduates and Vocational High graduates were largely recruited with huge success. All these establishments combined with devotion and consecration of faculties spanning over 30 years contributed to the contour and silhouette of Minghsin the almost size of a complete University.

On July in 1997, Minghsin was ratified officially by Ministry of Education to name itself "Minghsin College of Technology" annexed by program in Junior College. Between 1997 and 2001, Minghsin introduced Hotel Management, Children Education and Development, Leisure Management, and Senior Citizen Service Management in the College of Service Industries. The College of Service Industries was the only configuration of its type in Taiwan at that time that had a core focus in service industry. Then in 2002, Minghsin became an accredited university with 4 colleges, 9 graduate schools, and 18 departments. From few selective departments 40 years ago to today's inclusive academic unit, Minghsin has gone a long way. It is now a premier academic unit offering comprehensive education. There are more than 15,000 students, day school and night combined currently in Minghsin and almost 80,000 alumni worldwide. The name "Minghsin" was a sentence drawn from a famous Chinese classic scripture named "Da Xue". The excerpt emphasizes the importance of intellect and ethic, which was held as the ultimate goal of founding the university. We aspire all the graduates of Minghsin to be equipped with not only professional expertise but also high virtues, who seek the rare equilibrium of Heaven, humanbeings, material and self and to reach for the horizon of holistic well beings. Minghsin campus is located in a picturesque town of Xin-feng in Hsinchu County. The campus is more than 30 hectares, with Provincial High Road right at the edge of campus field and only 15 minutes driving distance to First National Highway. There are lush foliage all around school site. In the day time, one can overlook the Taiwan Strait from the angle of Feng-shan Creek. When the nightlights are on, it is the most romantic night view in the vicinity. The affluent resources surrounding Xin-feng provide students a suburban atmosphere to focus their academic pursuits with the University Motto--"Perseverance, Innovation, and Creation", all intended to encourage students to advance in intellect and to practice ethics.
