"Seek for truth; Toil for good" is NCKU’s motto, and the school therefore features a very down-to-earth academic climate conducive to steadfast pursuit of knowledge and truth. Since its inception, NCKU has undergone tremendous transformation and growth. Today the school comprises nine colleges, making the school the most academically comprehensive research university in Taiwan.

About the University:
NCKU, established in 1931, is located in Tainan, a city known for cultural heritage and cutting-edge technology. Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan. It has the greatest number and density of historical sites, which are not only the treasure of the “Capital City”, but also invaluable cultural assets to National Cheng Kung University (NCKU). Near to the campus is Sicao Wetlands, one of the best ecological parks in Asia. Various technology companies in Tainan Science Park set up the stage for NCKU graduates to put what they have learned in school into practice. The geological location of NCKU, Southern Taiwan Science Park and Industrial Technology Research Institute-Southern Region Campus, to some extent reiterates the connection of Berkeley University, Stanford University and Silicon Valley.
NCKU, one of the spotlight universities promoted by MOE in the international arena. As one of the spotlight schools endorsed by the Ministry of Education (MOE), NCKU has demonstrated excellent academic achievements and accumulated valuable results in several research areas. NCKU has been aiming for eminence in international academia, in the hopes of developing leaders of next generation with cultural literacy, civic literacy, social compassion and global vision.
