National Ilan University (NIU) started as Taiwan Provincial Ilan School of Agriculture & Forestry in 1926. Since then, NIU has maintained its distinguished status in academic as well as in research fields. Currently NIU is home to the College of Bioresources, College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and the College of Humanities and Management.

Main campus of NIU is located in Yilan city, a 50 minutes’ drive away from Taipei. Besides, NIU has its forest land in Jiaoxi for experimental application, forestation and ecological research, another campus at Wujie that focuses on professional animal research, and a newly established campus near Yilan Scientific Park for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) application and smart agriculture. The main campus sits in the center of Yilan city where students have convenient access to shopping mall, restaurants and other living facilities.

Apart from being an institution of education, NIU also plays a role in the providing technologies and knowledge into industrial and commercial endeavors. On the other hand, NIU also stand out as one of the main platforms and supporters for events regarding to Yilan history and culture, literatures, agricultures, and many more.
