The Department and Graduate Institute of Business Administration at National Taiwan University has evolved significantly since its inception in 1948 as the Department of Commerce under the College of Law. Over the years, it has expanded its focus and scope, culminating in the establishment of the Department of Business Administration in 1985 and subsequent divisions specializing in Industrial Administration and Technology Management. The Graduate School of Business Administration, inaugurated in 1972 for master's programs and expanded to doctoral programs in 1987, boasts a prestigious alumni network in prominent global enterprises and academia.

Today, NTU's Business Administration department excels in five core academic fields: Human Resources Management and Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, Marketing Management, Operations and Decision-Making Management, and Technology and Innovation Management. It is recognized internationally, having achieved Second Place in the Far East Asia General Management section of the Eduniversal Ranking 2013/2014. The department's strategic direction emphasizes elevating research and teaching standards, fostering interdisciplinary academic research, and strengthening ties with renowned foreign universities.
