The Department of Finance at National Taiwan University (NTU) has a rich history originating from its roots within the Department of Business under the College of Law in 1958. Over the years, it evolved to meet the growing demands of the financial industry both domestically and internationally. In 1985, the Department of Finance was established, stemming from the Banking division, reflecting the increasing importance of finance in economic development. Subsequent initiatives included the founding of The Graduate Institute of Finance in 1990, which introduced Taiwan's first Ph.D. program in finance in 1993, and the launch of the EMBA program in 2001. These expansions aimed to cater to the need for specialized financial expertise and managerial skills, encompassing areas such as financial engineering and insurance. Despite restructuring in 2001 and 2012, the department remains committed to excellence through continuous faculty recruitment, facility enhancement, and curriculum enrichment focused on technology, ethics, and global perspectives. Internships, scholarships, and industry-academia collaborations further underscore its dedication to nurturing future financial leaders.

Through the collaborative efforts of faculty, students, and alumni, the Department of Finance at NTU has emerged as one of Taiwan's foremost departments, renowned for its competitiveness and prestige. With a vision to achieve global excellence, the department emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical experience, fostering professionals versed in financial institutions management, corporate finance, securities investment, insurance, and real estate. Continuing to innovate in research and education, it aims to cultivate not only proficient managers but also distinguished scholars. International seminars and partnerships with industry and government further enhance students' global perspectives, elevating the department's international stature. By steadfastly adhering to its mission of training future financial elites and advancing the financial sector, the Department of Finance at NTU aims to uphold its role as a leader in global financial education and research.
