1. Small classes, all-English Instruction, and excellent research environment;
2. The faculty of foreign and Chinese professors are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated to individualized instruction.
3. Two tracks:
Literature Track -- offers a variety of literature, theory, and cultural analysis courses with a focus on modern and postmodern (post -1800) English literatures and cultures to develop students' research abilities as well as professional skills in analyzing English literature and culture.
Multimedia Track -- offers a variety of TEFL and Multimedia English Teaching courses to develop students' research abilities as well as professional skills in these fields.
4. Students can also benefit from taking language and translation courses offered by the College of Foreign Languages, which includes, besides the English Department, Departments of Japanese, Spanish, French, and German, Italian languages and literature and Cross-Cultural Studies program (composed of M.A. programs in Linguistics and in Translation & Interpretation and a Ph.D. program in Comparative Literature).
