The Institute of Astrophysics (IoAp) at National Taiwan University (Taida) is a pioneering institution focused on integrating astronomy and astrophysics into the university's scientific offerings. Rooted within the Department of Physics at the College of Science, IoAp has historically shared developmental paths with its parent department. Despite its recent establishment, IoAp has quickly become integral to Taida's academic landscape, offering courses exclusively in English—a first for the university. IoAp's strategic alignment with the MoE-funded research excellence project, "Cosmology and Particle Astrophysics" (CosPA), underscores its commitment to advancing knowledge in radio astronomy, optical and infrared astronomy, and theoretical astrophysics. These research groups will collaborate closely with the CosPA initiative for the foreseeable future, ensuring IoAp remains at the forefront of astrophysical research and education.

NTU's IoAp represents a significant evolution in Taida's educational offerings, addressing a long-standing absence of astronomy and astrophysics programs. Recognizing the historical appeal of astronomy among students and the public, IoAp's interdisciplinary approach bridges humanities and sciences, fostering a deeper understanding of natural phenomena. Moving forward, IoAp's collaborative model with the Physics Department ensures a robust and sustainable future, leveraging shared resources and expertise to maintain its leadership in astronomical research and education within Taiwan and beyond.
