Founded in 1992 and located within NTU's Basic Medical Science Building, the Institute of Immunology has established itself as a center for both basic and clinical immunology research. Initially offering a Master of Science program in 1993 and expanding to include a Ph.D. program in 1996, the institute boasts a faculty team of seven full-time members alongside seven joint and adjunct faculty. Situated near essential facilities like an animal facility, library, and hospital, the institute provides a conducive environment for comprehensive research in immunology.

The institute's curriculum emphasizes cellular and molecular immunology, covering topics such as immune cell development, signal transduction, immune response regulation, and the immunopathogenesis of diseases. Students are also required to take courses in molecular biology and biotechnology, complemented by seminar courses focusing on recent publications and in-house research progress. These seminars aim to develop students' critical thinking abilities and prepare them to independently design experiments, analyze scientific data, and solve research-related problems. Faculty members are actively engaged in diverse research areas within immunology, including hematopoiesis, infection, cancer, autoimmunity, and T cell regulation, contributing to the institute's reputation as a leader in immunological research and education.
