The Graduate Institute of Networking and Multimedia (GICE) at National Taiwan University was established in 2004 under the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. It collaborates closely with the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering and the Biomedical Electronics and Bioinformatics Group. GICE focuses on interdisciplinary research in networking, multimedia, data science, and artificial intelligence, aiming to foster advanced talent crucial for national information infrastructure and the multimedia industry. The institute engages actively with industries to enhance research practicality, encourage innovation, and support technical advancements.

GICE admits approximately 42 master's and 9 doctoral students annually, including international candidates. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical applications, catering to diverse academic backgrounds beyond traditional computer science disciplines. Research at GICE spans networking innovations like IoT and network security, multimedia advancements such as VR systems and image processing, data science initiatives in big data analytics and machine learning, and development of efficient computing platforms for mobile devices, IoT, and cloud computing. The institute aims to excel in communication engineering education and research nationally and internationally, preparing students to lead in innovative technological advancements.
