With the prosperous and booming development of the information technology industry, various calculations and stored data are rapidly generated and accumulated, and so the massive information in big data is far beyond the scope and capability of traditional mathematic and statistical modeling. Data science is considered a cross-disciplinary subject composed of three significant aspects involving computer science, mathematics & statistics, as well as corresponding domain knowledge. Since the research and education quality of both National Taiwan University and Academia Sinica has long been internationally recognized and considered influential roles for the data science community, this joint degree program is supported by the two organizations under solid cross-disciplinary cooperation. The Data Science degree program welcomes all students who are interested in pursuing further academic exploration in data science to apply for either the Master or Ph.D. classes of this program.
