The Department is active in both teaching and research. The current research areas are grouped into Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, Thermal Fluid, and Aerospace and Control Systems. The Department pursues fundamental and applied research to advance the technology breakthrough and competency in mechanical engineering, and to foster future engineers with leadership and vision.

Professional abilities
1. Solid mechanics as strength of material, mechanical vibration, mechanical structure, etc.
2. Thermal engineering as motivity factory, engine, air conditioner, etc.
3. Fluid mechanics as fluid mechanism, vacuum technology, aeronautical engineering, etc.
4. Mechanical design as computer-assisted design, mechanism design, etc.
5. Manufacturing as cutting, casting, plastic manufacture, etc.
6. System control engineering as robot electromechanical systems.
7. Nanometer technology and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), such as Microsensors, nano-actuators, etc.
