The National Chiayi University (thereinafter referred to as “the University”) has stipulated the “Implementation Guidelines for National Chiayi University International Undergraduate Students Scholarship” (thereinafter referred to as “the Guidelines”) in accordance with the “ Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” of the Ministry of Education, to promote internationalization , attract talented international undergraduate students to come to the university, and encourage their learning. The university’s scholarship for international undergraduate students (thereinafter referred to as “the Scholarship”) will be funded through subsidies from the Ministry of Education, outside donations, and University’s tuition and fees income.
Recipients, Standards, and Amounts of the Scholarship:
1. New international students who have applied for admission and enrolled to the university.
(1) The tuition and fees of the first school year will be reduced to the same standard as
(2) that for local students (including those who have retained their enrolment).
(3) Students who have taken a leave of absence, dropped out, or been withdrawn from the university will not be requested to return the reduced amount of the tuition and fees. For those who have reentered or readmitted the university, their tuition reduction shall not be taken again if it has been taken in the semesters before their leave of absence or dropping out.
2. For students who have been studying in the university for more than a year with formal enrolment, the scholarship funds will be released on an academic year basis and shall be applied each academic year. The qualifications for application are as follows:
(1) Category A scholarships: Students who took at least 9 academic credits both semesters of the previous academic year; rank within the top 50% of the class (The percentage of class ranking is rounding off to the 1st decimal place) both semesters of the previous academic year; and with a conduct score of 80 or above, will have their tuition and miscellaneous fees reduced to the local fee rate for the academic year in question.
(2) Category B scholarships: Students who took at least 9 academic credits both semesters of the previous academic year, rank from the top 51% to top 70% of the class both semesters of the previous academic year, with a conduct score of 80 or above (The percentage of class ranking is rounding off to the 1st decimal place), will have their tuition fees reduced to the local fee rate for the academic year in question.
(3) Students who have taken a leave of absence, dropped out, or been withdrawn from the university will not be required to repay the amount already reduced during the semester.
3. Students under these situations may not apply:
(1)Those who have not paid tuition and registration fees in the university
(2)Those who receive other scholarships from the government
